RE510 Educational PEM Fuel Cell

The RE510 Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell is one of the current leading contenders as a power source for use in motor vehicles.

The fuel cell generates electrical power directly from hydrogen and air producing only pure water and heat as a by-product.

RE540 Photovoltaic Trainer

A complete 80W solar panel system with instrumentation panel containing a battery charge controller, panel loading system, all relevant instrumentation and an external deep cycle 110Amp hour battery.

RE540A Optional Water Pump

RE540A Optional Water Pump. A water pump specifically designed for use with solar installations.

RE540B Optional Single Phase Inverter

A single phase inverter designed to provide a single phase AC mains source from the solar/battery system.

RE540C Additional Solar Panel

Optional Additional 80W Solar panel

An identical 80W solar panel to the unit supplied as part of the RE540 base unit. Up to 3 additional RE540C panels may be added to the RE540 unit.

RE540E Solar Simulator

An optional solar array that can be attached to the panel to simulate incident solar radiation.

Requires the RE540 Hilton Photovoltaic Trainer for operation.

RE551 Flat Plate Solar energy Collector

A flat plate solar collector similar to those used for heating swimming pools or domestic hot water is mounted on an adjustable frame. The unit is designed for internal or external operation.

For internal operation an artificial solar source is available on application as an optional extra.

RE551A Flat Focusing Solar Collector

An optional flat focussing type solar collector RE551A is available that can be supplied to allow a comparison of performance of the two types of collector.

Requires the RE551 Flat Plate Solar Enery Collector for operation.

RE551B Solar Simulator

For environments where abundant solar radiation cannot be relied upon an optional solar simulator is available that requires connection to a local electrical  power supply.

RE570 Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine

The Hilton Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine RE570 allows students to investigate the performance of a typical small scale 3 phase to DC wind generator.

RE580 Combined Wind & Solar Generator Demonstrator

A small (12V Nominal) solar panel with nominal 10W output is connected to a battery charge control system. The charge controller is also connected to a small (500mm diameter) wind turbine. The charge controller can be connected to the supplied 12V deep cycle lead acid battery.

F823 Solar/Heat Source Vapour Turbine

The vapour generator (or boiler) consists of a coiled copper tube through which pressurised SES36 solvent flows. The coil is immersed in an insulated tank containing hot water provided by either an electric resistance heater which is housed within the tank, or by the optional solar energy collector mounted in a suitable position outside.
