The Hilton Compressible Flow range is an expandable range of economic bench top equipment that enables students to safely and clearly investigate the fundamentals of compressible flow, air turbines and a variety of heat transfer experiments.
A wide variety of optional modules are available that allows investigation of nozzle Choking and efficiency, jet reaction, over and under expansion in supersonic nozzles, pressure distribution in convergent and convergent-divergent choked nozzles, performance of impulse turbine, performance of reaction turbine, heat transfer, pressure losses in pipes, sudden expansions and bends, air flow measurement using orifice plates and variable area flow meters.
The range is safe and suitable for unsupervised student operation and the equipment responds immediately to system changes allowing efficient use of laboratory time.



F110 Pressure Measurement Bench

The Hilton F110 Pressure Measurement Bench allows students to investigate measurement of one of the fundamental parameters that will be present in almost every branch of engineering and physics.

The unit is bench mounted and self-contained having its own means of pressure generation. 

F110A Deadweight Tester

A simple deadweight tester with weights and a bourdon tube pressure gauge with a clear front allowing the mechanism to be viewed.

F300 Compressible Flow Base unit

F300A Nozzle Performance Test Module

The F300A allows students to study the performance of a nozzle as either a kinetic energy or thrust producer.

Operating from a normal laboratory compressed air supply the unit is supplied with one convergent and four convergent-divergent nozzles that can be rapidly interchanged.

F300B Nozzle Pressure Distribution Module

The F300B enables students to study the effect of inlet and outlet pressure ratio on the mass flow and pressure distribution in nozzles.

Operating with the F300 Base Unit and a normal laboratory compressed air supply the Module is supplied with one convergent and two convergent-divergent nozzles of identical throat diameter.
